Agency announces annual opening of two award-winning programs that make Maryland’s under-resourced communities more affordable, resilient
BALTIMORE – The Maryland Energy Administration today announced the Fiscal Year 2025 opening of two of its most popular and high-demand clean and resilient energy incentive programs. The Community Solar Low- to Moderate-Income Power Purchase Agreement Grant Program and Resilient Maryland Program, both of which have received major awards from the Clean Energy States Alliance, are now open for applications. Projects funded by these programs can help the state equitably increase access to the benefits of clean and resilient energy solutions, keep the lights on, and keep energy costs lower for Marylanders.
“These programs are two of our ‘heavy-hitters.’ The Community Solar Low- to Moderate-Income Power Purchase Agreement Grant Program helps Maryland bring the benefits of solar energy to our overburdened and underserved communities who have traditionally been unable to access them,” said Maryland Energy Administration Director Paul G. Pinsky. “Meanwhile, the Resilient Maryland Program continues to help us make our energy systems more robust and reliable. These programs move us toward Maryland’s clean energy and greenhouse gas reduction goals and strengthen our communities.”
The Community Solar Low- to Moderate-Income Power Purchase Agreement Grant Program returns in Fiscal Year 2025 to provide funds to community solar subscriber organizations that provide the benefits of community solar farms to Maryland’s low-to moderate-income communities. New this year, the program now offers enhanced incentives that encourage the siting of community solar systems on landfills and other brownfield sites.
Applications to the FY25 Community Solar LMI-PPA Grant Program are due to the Maryland Energy Administration no later than November 29, 2024. Interested parties should contact David Comis, Senior Clean Energy Program Manager, by sending an email to Solar.MEA@Maryland.gov to learn more.
The FY25 Resilient Maryland Program returns for its sixth year to offer preconstruction planning and capital support funds to Maryland organizations pursuing microgrids, resiliency hubs, and other resilient energy systems. The program is designed to help Maryland communities and organizations identify optimal system configurations to bolster the resilience, sustainability, energy affordability, and efficiency of their essential facilities and operations and safeguard them from the harmful effects of prolonged power outages.
Applications to the FY25 Resilient Maryland Grant Program are due to the Maryland Energy Administration no later than November 15, 2024. Interested parties should contact Brandon Bowser, Section Chief for Clean Energy and Resilience, by sending an email to RMP.MEA@Maryland.gov to learn more.
The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) promotes clean, affordable, reliable energy and energy-related greenhouse gas emission reductions to benefit Marylanders in a just and equitable manner.
