Maryland Energy Administration Announces the first Quarter 10A Meeting of 2023
Baltimore, MD–The Maryland Energy Administration (‘MEA”) announces the first Quarterly 10A meeting of the calendar year 2023 to be at 4 p.m. January 9, 2023.
Quarterly 10A meetings between MEA, Alta Gas, and Washington Gas and Light Company (WGL) are a requirement of the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) Order 88631, and are dedicated solely to the topic of natural gas expansion in the state. Topics of the meeting will be whether and/or how to modify the Washington Gas Tariff GSP 14 to broaden the number of potentially qualifying expansion projects, as well as generally discussing project proposals related to expanding natural gas in the WGL service territory.
As a requirement of the AltaGas and WGL merger, WGL must invest $70 million over a 10-year period to further expand and extend natural gas service to areas within WGL’s service territory. Capital investments made by WGL as a part of this commitment may be included in the utility rate base. Natural gas expansion projects must be approved by the PSC prior to the implementation of a project, and project proposals discussed during the quarterly 10A meetings must still be reviewed prior to its being placed into rate base.
These meetings are open to all stakeholders and the public, and MEA encourages participation from all interested parties. Interested parties can join via Google Meet using the information below. All inquiries should be directed to Jahmai Sharp-Moore at jahmai.sharp-moore@maryland.gov or 443-694-3651.
