Maryland Energy Data Point – Maryland Smart Energy Communities
Communities that prioritize smart energy have lower utility bills and decreased fuel expenses. These savings can be reinvested into the community’s infrastructure, buildings or programs to benefit all residents. Maryland Smart Energy Communities (MSEC) program helps communities achieve long term, sustainable energy goals via energy efficiency, renewable energy development and transportation-related fossil fuel reduction.
Currently, there are 78 MSEC communities across the state who have committed to sustainable goals and partnered with the state on a variety of energy projects from HVAC upgrades to public transportation overhauls. Check out success stories in Cumberland, Frederick and Hagerstown.
