Thinking of installing solar but don’t know where to start?
By Abigail Peryea, MEA Grants Administrator
If you are thinking about installing solar panels on your home but don’t know where to start, take a look at “A Maryland Consumer’s Guide to Solar”. This booklet describes how solar energy is produced, how to finance it, questions to ask, and most importantly if it is right for your home. The information in this book is specific to Maryland homeowners.
Start the discussion by reviewing our free online resource like our Maryland Guide to Solar or quick solar facts. Then, once you are ready reach out to a solar contractor to discuss your needs and wants. Listings of solar professionals can be found online from industry nonprofits like the MDVA-SEIA’s contractor directory. The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) has a Clean Energy Rebate Program for both residential and commercial installations that help incentivize the installation of solar in the state. If you have questions feel free to contact the Maryland Energy Administration via our website or call 410-537-4000 or email us.
