Energy Grants Saves Maryland Farmers Over $750,000

The Kathy A.P. Mathias Agriculture grant has saved Maryland farmers over $750,000 dollars since 2012. Dedicated to the memory of Kathleen Arlee “Kathy” Petry Mathias of Ocean City, who passed away Aug. 15, 2011 after a battle with cancer. The wife of Maryland State Senator James N. Mathias Jr., Kathy was an inexhaustible advocate for Maryland’s Eastern Shore and its farming community.​​​​​ This annual grant is awarded on a competitive basis to Maryland farms and agricultural businesses who significantly reduce their energy use.
