October 2024 Honorees
Luz Morales was assigned an extremely time-sensitive procurement with major visibility. The Statewide Wireless Devices and Accessories contract is how the state obtains its cell phones and cellular service. This includes the FirstNet phones used by Executive Branch VIPs, including the Governor and his staff. Luz was asked to complete this project on a very short timeline. She had to complete all the administrative responsibilities, including preparing a BPW packet and obtaining all internal approvals, in just a handful of business days. Because of the contract’s visibility, VIP stakeholders’ presence, and extremely tight time constraints, Luz deserves recognition for her amazing performance!
Darrell has always been a go-getter. He’d rather jump right in and get things done than sit back and delegate. He is a conscientious Building Manager who has had numerous successes fixing issues in the 301 W. Preston St. building at the State Center Complex in Baltimore. He is easy to get along with and continues to build relationships with his team. His co-workers really respect him. Darrell addresses tenant concerns by tackling work order requests immediately, overseeing contractors, participating in snow removal at various buildings and responding to after-hour emergencies (e.g. coming in for fire alarm calls or leaks and whatever is necessary to keep our state buildings open and running smoothly). Like many of the unsung heroes in our Baltimore division, Darrell Jones is a quiet champion who goes beyond his job duties every day without fanfare, drama, or recognition. Darrell is part of a team that gets the job done. His skill set, responsiveness, diligence, and work ethic are inspirational.
