Casey Doy, Maintenance Mechanic Sr. at the 301 W. Preston Building in Baltimore, is continually asked to do more and has no problem helping out on anything needed. Being a “go to” guy says a lot about him, his attitude and his character. He works not only at his assigned building doing rounds and creating work orders for deficiencies that he finds, but he also goes between other properties checking on the buildings and the grounds and delivering supplies as needed. He oversees and reports back. His managers really appreciate him. When some door checks needed repair at the 301 W. Preston Street building, Casey surveyed the staircases and bathrooms to determine how many were needed, ordered the supplies and followed through with the installation without being reminded. Casey continues to be a good asset to the Facilities Management office, always has a great attitude and will complete any task required of him. For all the ways he does his job, Casey has been caught Doing Great Service.
The Agency Relationship Manager (ARM) team, Tavon Winborne, Tara Davis, Stefanie Simpson, and Carlos Abinader, is recognized for their hard work and efforts on the State Center Relocation project. ORE has been working on this project for nearly a year. To date we have issued seven RFP’s for DHS, SDAT, MDH, the Comptroller’s Office, DBM, Planning, and Aging seeking over 700,000 sf of office space. The final RFP for Labor and DOIT is due to be released this month. The ARM team has worked closely on reviewing agency’s space requests, ensuring the new DGS space standards are being followed, and making space reduction recommendations to help reduce agency space requirements. What is unique about this team is that they are all relatively new to State service with our most tenured employee Tavon Winborne having been with the State since October 2019, Tara Davis having worked with the team since May of 2020, Carlos Abinader joined ORE in September 2020, and Stefanie Simpson began her employment in December 2021. Congratulations to this group for their excellent work in helping to implement this legacy project for Governor Hogan.
Every year from weeks before the Legislative Session Unit, Sgt. Asia Alexander, Crystal Richardson, Jay Jiggetts, Zelda Brown, Laurinda Warren, and Delvin Makell, until the final gavel for Sine Die the MCP Security Card Processing Centers in Baltimore and Annapolis process thousands of IDs for state employees, legislators, contractual employees, media, and local government officials, Under Sgt. Alexander’s supervision and direction, the process for state IDs has been greatly streamlined to lessen wait times for their customers. More importantly she has brought a fantastic customer service first vision to the processing center. MCP Headquarters on more than one occasion during legislative session received emails commending the staff for their professional and caring treatment of those they serve. This is high praise especially for a time of year when stress levels can be high and sometimes customers can be less than kind in return. Sgt. Alexander and her staff also manage the access for each, and every ID issued and have to exercise great care in assuring people have he proper access to buildings and doors. Sgt. Alexander and her staff should be commended on yet another outstanding legislative session and for always Doing Great Service.
Barry Kramer transferred from our capital unit to our budget unit last fall. This is the busiest time of the
year for the budget unit, but in a short amount of time, Barry learned his new role and provided critical support to the unit on the 2023 budget process. Additionally, Barry lent a hand training his replacement in the capital unit, taking large blocks of time away from his day to help an area in need. He still continues to dedicate 15% of his time to helping the capital unit, which has experienced additional turnover and needs his expertise. Without his help in both units, fiscal would struggling to keep up with the volume of work. Thanks for all you do Barry!
