Maryland Department of General Services to Host Exhibit in Celebration of Women’s History Month

BALTIMORE, MD – The Maryland Department of General Services today announced an exhibit on public display to celebrate Women’s History Month. The Office of Capital Grants and Loans worked with the Maryland Women’s Heritage Center to open “Images and Expressions: Maryland Women in the Arts,” a temporary exhibit of photographs to celebrate Women’s History Month. The exhibits, located in the lobby of the 301 W. Preston St. building in Baltimore, are part of the department’s community outreach efforts in recognition of Women’s History Month.

“We are honored to be able to host this exhibit during Women’s History Month,” said Secretary Ellington E. Churchill, Jr. “The exhibit highlights the beautiful artwork of women who have pioneered to enhance the value of engaging with the arts in our state and nation.”

The Maryland Women’s Heritage Center was formed out of the Maryland Women’s History Project, which was founded in 1980, to preserve the past, understand the present, and shape the future by finding, respecting, and sharing the achievement and experiences of Maryland women who come from all regions and backgrounds of the state. The Maryland Women’s Heritage Center’s mission is to achieve positive change in the lives of Marylanders by recognizing and documenting contributions of women to our social, political, and economic order, and promoting opportunities and equality for women and girls.

The exhibit is free and open to employees, visitors, and passersby until Thursday, March 27, 2020.
