Charles Clark

Charles Clark, a maintenance supervisor with FOM is regularly complimented by   Juvenile Services agents for going above and beyond the call of duty while maintaining a positive attitude. “Never in a bad mood.” “Always happy to help.” “I know I can count on you for whatever I need.” These are just a few of the many compliments he has received.

Alan Gwynn

Alan Gwynn is the maintenance supervisor at the Louis L. Goldstein DC/MSC in Prince Frederick. He provide exemplary customer service while also being budget conscious. Over the years, rather than run the facility boilers all weekend, Alan would stop in every Sunday morning on his own time to fire up the boilers so the building would be warm on Monday. “Never hearing him complain speaks volumes about Alan’s commitment to DGS,  his employees and his tenants,” said Michael Cain, FOM Regional Manager.

Off. Jerry Harris, Sr.

On the evening of July 20, 2016 , MCP Officer Jerry Harris was at home when he smelled smoke. The nearby Harbor House Apartments were on fire. He ran to assist residents and found that an elderly woman on a second floor balcony. Officer Harris made his way to her apartment saw that she had been overcome with smoke and need to be carried out. Once she was safely outside, Officer Harris continued his rescue efforts. “His courage and quick actions undoubtedly prevented loss of life,” Chief Mike Wilson said.

Dan Heyman

Dan Heyman, portfolio manager of state-owned properties in the Office of Real Estate, assisted tenants with their move-ins at the completely-refurbished 100 Community Place in Crownsville. It was a time-consuming job balancing the needs of the client agencies.  “He demonstrated exemplary customer service skills and completed the project on  time,” said Assistant Secretary Wendy Scott-Napier.

Nick Matula

Nick Matula is the DGS Property Officer. When asked to help out, whatever the task, he is always ready to do what needs to be done. “As a manager, this is what you always want to hear from your  employees. … Nick’s  positive attitude is an asset to the Inventory Standards and Support Division,” said Kathryn Wilson, his supervisor.

Ghadir Sar

Ghadir Sara is a measurement and verification specialist in the Office of Energy Performance & Conservation. She takes great pride in her work, all of which requires razor-sharp attention to detail. Making sure that shortfalls and adjustments are correctly made for the energy team’s performance contracts and ensuring that energy service companies fully comply with contract guidelines, are two examples.

LT

Lawrence Taylor “LT” is a construction inspector with FPDC. LT provided a tour for DGS’ Budget & Management analyst of the construction sites he inspects. The goal of the tour was to help DBM better understand the workload and job responsibilities of various divisions within DGS.  Following the tour, the analyst commented that LT works hard to manage the public’s money in the most effective way possible. “It was obvious that LT did not create the problems he was managing, but he was actively working to solve them,” the analyst said.

Renee Thompson

Renee Thompson, Agency Relationship Manager for DGS Real Estate, has had the challenging job of  doing the work of two people as she coordinate with 60 state agencies on their leased portfolio needs. (The agency relationship duties were previously shared with another staff person, who left DGS in 2015).  For example, she assisted DHCD with their relocation from Crownsville to Prince George’s County, and she helped with relocating the DHR/Department of Social Services unit in Frederick County. “She has consistently provided excellent customer service to all agencies, while managing a large caseload,” said Assistant Secretary Wendy Napier-Scott.

“MCP Lieutenant Eric Yealdhall excels in the performance of his duties,” said Chief Mike Wilson. He went on to say that Lt. Yealdhall was outstanding in the day-to-day operations of the Baltimore Detachment when he headed that section. The lieutenant was also was instrumental in training MCP and allied police personnel in the Opiod Overdose Response Program.  Additionally, his technical acumen made it possible to design and developed the Maryland Capitol Police mobile application.
