June Honorees

Baltimore Regional Manager, James Boyd, has only been in the position for less than 6 months, but he hit the ground running. He embraced his increased responsibilities and learned a lot of necessary administrative tasks. James has eagerly taken on new challenges and is continually improving our processes. He has been a great communicator staying on top of needed repairs/ maintenance at State Center and providing timely updates about ongoing projects. James continues to reach out to tenants to create relationships to better accomplish our Customer Service Mission. James has worked for DGS for nearly four years. In that time, he excelled in the position of Building Manager at William Donald Schaefer Tower and worked with his team to accomplish many projects. James effectively puts plan into action. He has done well for the Baltimore Division and has been an important part of the success of the Department. That is why James Boyd deserves to be Caught Doing Great Service.

John Evianiak was working on a project to fix an underground leak on the heating and cooling lines for the Tawes Complex in Annapolis, MD. On March 9th, John was made aware of an underground heating water leak at another location that rapidly turned into an emergency, John immediately had his contractor begin to investigate. By the weekend of March 18th, it was determined that shutting down the heating was the best course of action as the leak had intensified. Over the weekend, John along with the contractor and DGS Office of Facilities Management team identified areas that would need temporary heat. By Monday morning, the contractor had the necessary equipment to keep the impact to the occupants to a minimum. John had a plan to put a temporary boiler in place while the contractor began excavations to expose the leak. Once the contractor exposed the area, it was determined that the leak could be repaired and the temporary boiler would not be needed. For John’s management of the emergency and dedication to ensure a continuance of operations at the facility, we nominate John Evianiak for Doing Great Service.
