During a short  break between interviews a phone call came into the conference room which Doreva Hinton answered. It was a person looking for the location of the tax court. The person on the phone was very concerned that they would miss their hearing as they were unsure of the location. Doreva was compassionate and very friendly to the person and told the person that she would find the phone number for that court and get back to him in a minute and then she put the person on hold and went to look for the number. James and I had overheard that the person was supposed to have a hearing at the tax court and they were unable to reach anyone to confirm their hearing. After a minute James Alston remembered that he knew someone that worked for the tax court so he picked up the phone and told the person that he would reach out to his associate and get them the information they required. He took the persons cell phone number and made a call to the tax court associate he knew and provided them with the information about the person’s request and that it was critical to make contact with them as a hearing was later in the day. James later verified that contact had been made with that person. As a supervisor I was very impressed with both of their exemplary customer service skills in this case and believe it was a perfect example of teamwork and going the extra mile to help a customer of the State of Maryland.
