Tara Davis began work at DGS as an Agency Relationship Manager in May 2020, joining DGS Real Estate from the private commercial lease sector. During the past 14 months, Tara has developed positive relationships with the agencies that she manages and has earned many accolades along the way. She was recently praised by Peter DeMartino of the Maryland Department of Health for her diligence and excellent customer service skills. Specifically, the agency said, “The news of our impending move came at a challenging time for our unit and the additional assignment of the 680-1 form was unwelcome. Working with Tara was a complete gift. With the additional information regarding decreasing our footprint, Tara worked closely with me to modify the form, think through the challenging and develop solutions. She was personable, flexible and incredibly effective in helping me identify oversights. Through the entire process, she kept me on task and has continued to be helpful on all of our walkthroughs”. Tara has recently begun work on the State Center Relocation efforts and will be a critical part of this project. We are happy Tara has joined our team and look forward to her continued growth in the Office of Real Estate.
James Cavanaugh is a Stationary Engineer in the Central Power Plant. He is definitely a go getter and believes in the power of team work. Whenever there is an issue in a building, James steps up to help out without being asked. On many occasions, James has handled issues after hours without calling in additional support from Building staff. He enthusiastically embraces learning knew things, such as eMaint, and mentors and shares his vast knowledge with his fellow engineers and other members of the Annapolis Facilities team, whenever he can do so. Recently, while conducting rounds, James came upon a room in the Court of Appeal building in which a fire sprinkler head burst. There was an almost insurmountable amount of water being released into this room in which books were stored. Quickly, James found and secured the main water line to the fire sprinkler system and called the Superintendent and Regional and Building Managers. He then began the process of cleaning up the water that flooded two hallways. James could have gone back to the Power Plant to do other work. He stayed however and assisted the Facilities team in cleaning up the water. This is one example of many in which James has gone above and beyond to help his team.
