General Services Appoints Yasin Mohammed as Director of the Procurement Operations Bureau

General Services is proud to announce a new member to our senior leadership team to further strengthen our already talented Department of General Services. Please join us in welcoming Mr. Yasin Mohammed who is appointed as the Director of the Procurement Operations Bureau. In this role Yasin will assist the CPO and lead the Office of State Procurement to source, develop, execute and manage all strategic Statewide contracts for goods and services needed by the State, aligned to our mission, and ensure all strategic enterprise category contracts meet State objectives. Yasin will join the General Services team on June 16th.

Yasin has a distinguished career in procurement, risk management and all aspects of supply chain management. He began his career at the United Nations (UN) in the Office of Legal Affairs for the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal. After which Yasin changed his focus from politics to procurement, managing key roles with the Pharmacopeial Convention, Xerox Corporation, and various non-profits. Yasin comes to General Services after serving as Deputy Director of the Office of Procurement and Contract Management at the Maryland Department of Transportation – State Highway Administration.

Yasin holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College, a Master of Arts degree from American Military University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from State University of New York – Buffalo.
