State Hosts 2017 National Association of State Facilities Administrators East & Southeast Regional Meeting
ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) today hosted the two-day conference of the 2017 National Association of State Facilities Administrators (NASFA) East & Southeast Regions in Annapolis, MD. NASFA is the only association dedicated exclusively to the state facilities profession and the unique challenges they face.
“NASFA allows us to connect with other states to discuss what each state is doing successfully and learn more about best practices,” said Secretary of General Services Ellington Churchill. “By leveraging our common experience, we increase our ability to be more successful in managing our state resources.”
NASFA’s diverse members are responsible for the planning, development, operations, and maintenance of state facilities. Members represent facilities professionals in the departments of administration, transportation, real estate, parks, corrections, human services, and colleges and universities. NASFA’s mission is fostering communication and providing leadership in the development and implementation of state facility administration practices.
The primary goals of the East & Southeast Regional meeting was to provide an opportunity for members of NASFA to exchange ideas, provide a forum for the study of effective state facilities administration and management, as well as promote more effective regional cooperation and the development of programs of mutual interest to adjacent states. The meeting also allowed state facilities administrators to engage in programs for the training, education and development of state facilities managers and administrators. Finally, the meeting allowed the gathering, analyzing, and distribution of information, including data on state facilities policies and practices, legislation, new programs, and other items of interest to the states.
