The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will hold two public meetings to solicit comments on proposed hunting and trapping regulations for the State’s resident game species and selected migratory game birds for 2014-15 and 2015-16. DNR’s Wildlife and Heritage Service reevaluates the regulations for these game species every two years. Read more
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking public input on the proposed creation of 10 new Wildlands and the expansion of 17 existing Wildlands (click here for the map). Wildlands are State-owned natural areas preserved for their wilderness character or sensitive natural resources. Starting in late October, the department will be holding public meetings in nine counties across the State to collect comments on designating additional Wildlands. Read more
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking public input on a proposed plan that would expand the off-road vehicle (ORV) trail system on State owned lands in Western Maryland. Based on a comprehensive two-year study conducted by the department, the plan looks to introduce ORV trails that would have little impact on surrounding natural resources. Read more
The Maryland Department of Natural Resource (DNR) will hold a public meeting to discuss adding criteria to regulated oyster aquaculture inside of the St. Mary’s River Oyster Sanctuary on December 6 from 3 to 7 p.m.
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has decided to open the Foster tract of the Chesapeake Forest to public hunting, after taking public input for a month. DNR also plans to move all of the 15 proposed tracts from public hunting to the leased hunting program. The Department will hold a joint Forest/Wildllife & Heritage Services informational meeting for the hunting community and similar stakeholders about this decision and to answer their questions in the near future.
