Department of General Services Welcomes Chinese Delegation to Maryland

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) today welcomed a delegation of China’s National Government Offices Administration to the state. The delegation is visiting Maryland to gain an understanding of the standardization in government management, government buildings management standards, and procurement.

The National Government Offices Administration’s functions within China are similar to those of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). The delegation will be meeting with GSA later in the week, and will also travel to New York City as part of their visit.

“It was an honor to meet with the delegation to discuss the best practices of our agency,” said DGS Secretary Ellington Churchill. “Our staff was pleased to share their knowledge and answer questions related to Maryland’s internal processes as it relates to procurement and building operations.”

DGS met with the delegation in Annapolis and gave a presentation on how the state procurement system works, including a brief overview of the State of Maryland’s internet-based procurement system, eMaryland Marketplace. DGS also shared information on how Maryland’s legislative and executive process works, including how a bill becomes a law.
