Employee of the Month – Colleen Haynes

Colleen Haynes

Colleen Haynes has been a construction unit supervisor with Procurement & Logistics for 30 years. Her responsibilities — demanding; her successes — outstanding. Both are too numerous to list, but here are a few highlights:

  • Leads the day-to-day operations for the P&L construction team, including direct supervision of three procurement officers and liaising with project managers.
  • Leverages her vast procurement experience  to analyze critical and complex procurement issues and  develop solutions that will achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Excels as a hands-on procurement officer, personally handling five projects valued at $4.2 million in March this year alone. She and her team achieved success with the award of 23 projects valued at $10.8 million in the same month.
  • Spearheaded effective procurement activities for the recently-opened Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center in Church Creek on the Eastern Shore, including advertising the project and conducting the pre-bid meeting; contract evaluation, documentation and execution; and project status monitoring. This project was valued at $14.8 million.
  • Assumed personal responsibility for high profile construction procurements awarded over the last year, including the Easton Readiness Center, Havre De Grace Readiness Center, the Harriet Tubman Visitor Center and Harriet Tubman exhibits, and Enoch Pratt Library construction management. These projects are valued at a total of $136 million.
