Employee of the Month – Brian Tressler

Brian Tressler has been with Facilities Planning, Design & Construction for five years. He is Area Supervisor for western region construction, which includes the entire western part of the state. He isn’t just a supervisor, however; he is also an inspector managing and overseeing construction projects in Garrett, Allegany and Washington counties. He is currently overseeing and managing nine construction projects amounting to $5.6 million.

Repairs to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad following a landslide is one example of a successful project completed on time and under budget. The railroad goes from Cumberland to Frostburg. The landslide, caused by abandoned coal spoil piles from underground coal mines dating back to the 1940s, limited the trip to just half the distance before it had to back down the mountain. The repairs were completed in 58 days, two days short of the 60-day contract duration.

Brian’s work was recognized by Mike Garner, MDE Bureau of Mines, who complimented his professionalism, his attention to detail and for looking out for MDE’s interests. Other using agencies have also complimented Brian. For example, DNR Project Manager John Moore stated that it was a pleasure working with Brian because of these same qualities.
