Eastern Shore WMAs Reopen to Waterfowl Hunting
Several Eastern Shore Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) ─ or portions of these areas ─ that were temporarily closed to waterfowl hunting have reopened.
The following sites are now open to waterfowl hunting:
- Maryland Marine Properties WMA
- Wellington WMA
- The portion of Deal Island WMA near Dames Quarter: located east of Riley Robert’s Rd., north of the impoundment, and east of the intersection of Deal Island Rd and Messick Rd.
- The portion of Deal Island WMA near Wenona: located north of Custom House Rd. and south of Laws Thorofare.
The Department of Natural Resources mowed crops at these sites to attract doves as part the dove management plan. State and federal laws allow dove hunting, but not waterfowl hunting, in areas where a crop has been manipulated. For information call 410-543-8223. temporarily closed the areas after crops we
