A Frederick County man was charged Saturday with illegal hunting in a state park by the Maryland Natural Resources Police.
Rodney Warren Winstead, 49, of Jefferson, received a citation for maintaining a baited area in a state park, a violation that carries a maximum fine of $1,500. He is scheduled to appear in Frederick District Court on Nov. 4.
Winstead acknowledged to an NRP officer that he placed tree stands and bait in Greenbrier State Park adjacent to his property.
In addition to a citation for illegal hunting, Winstead was issued two warnings for park violations.
Allegany County
A West Virginia man was charged Saturday morning with two counts of impaired driving as he tried to drive away from a store in Westernport.
Virgil Licugas Didawick, 56, of Elk Garden, was stopped by an officer who saw him stumble and fall into the side of his vehicle. The man was unable to perform field sobriety tests. He was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and taken to the Cumberland barrack for a breathalyzer test, which he refused.
Didawick is scheduled to appear in Allegany District Court on a later date. If found guilty, he could be fined a maximum of $1,000 and have his license suspended for six months.

A Swanton man was charged with driving under the influence on Saturday at 12:20 a.m., when an officer stopped a vehicle for going 68 mph in a 50 mph zone on Route 135 in McCoole.
Joshua Sean Marsh, 32, had slurred speech and failed field sobriety tests, and registered a blood alcohol content of .13, well over the legal limit of .08.
He received three citations for impaired driving and one for speeding. He has not yet received a date to appear in Allegany District Court.

Also on Saturday, a Westernport man was arrested on violation of probation and motor vehicle charges after an officer stopped him on Route 135 on Backbone Mountain for speeding.
Andrew Scott Walker, 20, was pulled over for doing about 100 mph. While checking his record, the officer found he was wanted for a probation violation on a theft conviction and his driver’s license had been suspended.
Walker was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center to await a court date.
Garrett County
Two men were charged in separate incidents Saturday in Savage River State Forest.
Tristen Charles Rolen Brittian, 19, of Greenbelt received citations for speeding and being in possession of an alcoholic beverage after he was stopped in the Bear Pen Run Natural Area of the forest. If found guilty on both charges, he could be fined as much as $590.

Ryan Jeffrey Case, 24, of Shillington, Pa., received tickets for marijuana and alcohol possession after an officer noticed he was having trouble parking his car in the Whitewater camping area of the forest. If found guilty of both charges, he could be fined $75.
