“With a variety of activities and exhibitors, this event is perfect for those just getting their feet wet, and advanced sportsmen looking to speak to seasoned experts,” said event coordinator, Patricia Allen, DNR Wildlife and Heritage education program manager. “We also look forward to teaching Maryland youth about the important role that fishing and hunting play in natural resource conservation and management.”

Local sponsors of this year’s event include Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore, Baltimore County Game and Fish Protective Association, Maryland Bowhunters Society, National Wild Turkey Federation’s Maryland Chapter and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Formalized by Congress in 1971, National Hunting and Fishing Day was created by the National Shooting Sports Foundation to celebrate the conservation successes of America’s hunters and anglers. Sportsmen generate nearly $800 million annually for state and local economies, supporting countless job opportunities, boosting local economies and helping fund public resources.
