Maryland State Parks to Celebrate Great American Campout
Visit a nearby state park on June 27 and join the Maryland Park Service in celebrating the Great American Campout! Participants can learn how to pitch a tent, cook a campfire meal, make s’mores and more! This day will include plenty of family-friendly fun, along with giveaways from the National Wildlife Federation.
“We encourage all Marylanders to share in an evening outdoors with their friends and families this summer, whether in the wild, or their own backyard,” said DNR Secretary Mark Belton. “Getting in touch with nature and spending time under the stars is sure to be a memorable experience for everyone.”
Across the nation, thousands of outdoors enthusiasts will participate in the Great American Campout, a one-night event sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation.
Participating state parks in Maryland include Sandy Point State Park, Cunningham Falls State Park, Fair Hill NRMA, New Germany State Park, Patapsco Valley State Park, and Point Lookout State Park.
No previous camping experience is necessary, only a thirst for adventure and a passion for the outdoors.
Activities have limited space, so be sure to register as soon as possible! Don’t miss this great opportunity to spend a night camping in Maryland’s great outdoors.
