A hunter was charged Saturday with illegal turkey hunting in Allegany County by the Maryland Natural Resources Police.

Paul Leonard Stout, 52, of Westminster was hunting over bait on private land off Woodcock Road when he was approached by officers at about 6 a.m. He admitted to filling a feeder with shelled corn and scattering more on the ground near his decoys. He said no one else at the hunt club was involved.

Stout is scheduled to appear on June 11 in Allegany District Court. If found guilty, he could be fined as much as $500.
