Wolf Den Run State Park Open House

Share Your Thoughts Oct. 20 in Kitzmiller

Photo of Wolf Den Run State ParkThe Maryland Department of Natural Resources will hold an informational open house for Wolf Den Run State Park from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 20 at Kitzmiller Elementary School.

Maryland Park Service staff will be available to answer questions about the new state park and provide comments and feedback on topics such as camping, hunting and trails. The public event will conclude with a roundtable discussion.

The department finalized the purchase of Wolf Den Run State Park this spring. The primary use of the Garrett County property will be to provide a high-quality recreation experience and opportunity for off-highway/off-road vehicle riders.

“As we move to open existing trails and start the formal planning process on future amenities, facilities and services, we encourage community partners, outdoor enthusiasts and others to join us at the open house,” Maryland Park Service Superintendent Nita Settina said. “This is your chance to share your thoughts on the development of a new state park in Western Maryland.”

Before attending the open house, please review an assessment of the existing trail network and take an off-highway vehicle user survey, both available at: dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/western/Wolf-Den-Run.aspx.
