Public Invited to Open House for Wolf Den Run State Park
Information Meeting Set for Jan. 26
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will hold a second informational open house for Wolf Den Run State Park from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 26 at Greenbrier State Park, 21843 National Pike, Boonsboro.
Maryland Park Service staff will provide a brief presentation about the park slated to open this year, plus answer questions and listen to public feedback on topics such as camping, hunting and trails.
In 2018, the department finalized the purchase of the 2,000-acre property in Garrett County that will become Wolf Den Run State Park, which will provide a high-quality recreation experience and opportunity for off-highway/road vehicle riders. A previous open house in October was well attended.
“As we move to open existing trails and start the formal planning process on future amenities, facilities and services, we encourage community partners, outdoor enthusiasts and others to join us at the open house,” Maryland Park Service Superintendent Nita Settina said. “This is your chance to share your thoughts on the development of a new state park in Western Maryland.”
Before attending the open house, members of the public are encouraged to review an assessment of the existing trail network and take an off-highway vehicle user survey, both available at the Wolf Den Run State Park website page.
For anyone who cannot attend, comments or questions can be directed to Herrington Manor State Park at 301-334-9180.
