Maryland Environmental Trust Protects Scenic Farm in Carroll County

Donation Conserves Scenic Farmland and Forest

The Maryland Environmental Trust has permanently protected a 45-acre property in northeast Carroll County.

Lewis M. Hale donated a conservation easement to protect prime agricultural land, forest and scenic views along Lineboro Road. The easement also protects a tributary of Muddy Creek.

“We are pleased to have been able to partner with Mr. Hale to ensure his land remains healthy and productive farmland that both supports the local economy and safeguards its scenic qualities for the benefit of this and future generations,” Maryland Environmental Trust Director Bill Leahy said.

The Maryland Environmental Trust holds 22 easements in Carroll County, protecting more than 1,300 acres.
