National Hunting and Fishing Day Celebrated Sept. 23
Free, Family-Friendly Event in Washington County
Anglers, conservationists, hunters and others interested in the great outdoors are invited to take part in the 11th annual National Hunting and Fishing Day celebration Sept. 23, 2017. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Izaak Walton League of America will host a free, family-friendly event – rain or shine – from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 12759 Independence Road, Clear Spring, Washington County.
Featuring exhibits from various sportsman clubs, conservation organizations and small businesses, visitors will enjoy interactive activities and programming, including spin-casting and wildlife identification, as well as instructor-led archery and target shooting.
“This event is designed for individuals who share a love for the great outdoors, from youth to seasoned anglers, hunters and shooters interested in speaking with staff or other like-minded individuals, organizations or vendors,” Wildlife and Heritage Service Specialist Chris Markin said. “It is also a great opportunity to educate and engage citizens about the important role that hunting and fishing play in natural resource conservation and management.”
For more information on attending the event or becoming a vendor, please email. Interested groups and vendors can also fill out an online form.
National Hunting and Fishing Day was created by the National Shooting Sports Foundation to celebrate the conservation successes of America’s anglers and hunters. Sportsmen generate nearly $800 million annually for state and local economies, supporting countless job opportunities, boosting local economies and helping fund public resources.
