NRP Arrests Pair for Numerous Baltimore-Area Thefts

A man and woman suspected of numerous Baltimore area thefts—including taking a warning sign about leaving valuables in plain sight—have been arrested by the Maryland Natural Resources Police.

Jesse Allen Lamartina, 33, of Baltimore, and Rachel Olivia Holt, 22, of Westminster, have been charged with theft, malicious destruction of property and being vagabonds. Lamartina is being held in the Carroll County Detention Center and Holt was released. They are scheduled to appear in Towson District Court on Oct. 19.

An inventory of recovered items includes cameras, iPods, gift cards, purses, jewelry, smartphones, camping gear and a yellow street sign that warns: “Don’t Be an Easy Target, Lock Your Car & Take Your Keys. Never Leave Valuables in Sight.”

On July 29, NRP officers were called to a vehicle break-in at the Gunpowder Falls State Park parking lot on Bel Air Road. Following an electronic trail of credit card use, officers were able to link the suspects to the theft and locate the pair. A search of the suspects’ vehicle found numerous stolen items from other break-ins in Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties and the City of Westminster.

Area police departments continue to review open theft cases and some stolen property has not been claimed because of the magnitude of the thefts.
