Migratory Game Bird Stamp Design Contest Winner

Jim Taylor from Towson won the 41^st Annual Maryland Migratory Game Bird Stamp Design Contest with his painting titled Sunset Canvasbacks.

“I love painting waterfowl,” said Taylor. “It is a great honor to have my artwork chosen when so many talented Maryland artists entered the contest.”

A panel of judges selected Taylor’s work before a crowd on April 26 at the 45th Annual Ward World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition and Art Festival at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, Md. This is the fourth time he has won the contest.

The Maryland Migratory Game Bird Stamp Design Contest showcases the talents of our state’s gifted wildlife artists while raising funds for conservation. Migratory game bird hunters are required to purchase these stamps and the proceeds fund migratory game bird research and habitat enhancement on the state’s public lands. Since 1974, stamp sales have provided more than $7 million for migratory game projects.
