Why did you join the MDNG?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJoining the military was more or less a family tradition. My father served, my uncle served, my cousins and my brother served. As far back as I know, there are possibilities that people from my family served in the civil war.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does it feel to work in the community?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt feels good, I don\u2019t really deal with the public too much. I\u2019m usually in the rear making sure vehicles are up and running and mission capable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What part of your training has prepared you the most for COVID missions?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNothing really has helped prepared me for the position I would be thrown into, especially the first round of COVID missions. All the sergeants and above are technicians at our field maintenance shops. So, I got put into the spot of leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your favorite part of being a soldier?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI get to make new friends and establish connections outside of here (Maryland National Guard). I love the atmosphere here (with other Soldiers).”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How has it been balancing military service and family time during the past few years?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn the last couple years I do talk to them whenever I get a chance. I\u2019m used to not seeing them for long periods of a time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How has serving during COVID impacted\/changed you as a soldier?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt didn\u2019t really impact me in a negative way, it was more of a positive. It allowed me to get around from my normal area of Baltimore County. I would go down to Baltimore city and Western Maryland, places I haven\u2019t been to in a while.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the next thing for you after this mission is over?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJust going back to a part-time soldier. My contract ends in just under a year, and I\u2019ll re-enlist depending on getting my knee fixed and passing the physical fitness test.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
