Spc. Thomas Lamb, recently transferred from the 100th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, Texas Army National <\/sub><\/sup><\/b><\/span><\/em>Guard, and moved to Maryland, this year.<\/sub><\/sup><\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

After Lamb graduated from Defense Information School – where Service members of every stripe attend to learn about the different fields in communications, video, radio broadcasting, and graphic design – he immediately volunteered to\u00a0 assist with his new home state\u2019s COVID-19 relief operations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s definitely a dynamic time for the Maryland National Guard. So it’s no surprise that dynamic soldiers are stepping in to join our ranks,” <\/span><\/i>stated Major Brendan Cassidy, unit commander of the 29th MPAD.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lamb, 25, was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and has been married to Laurel Lamb for four years. He joined the Texas Army National Guard in 2016 as a parachute rigger with the 294th Airborne Quartermaster Company and has performed 60 parachute jumps.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThey were sad, but my wife and I are happy with the decision and looking forward to serving the state and new opportunities.\u201d <\/span><\/em>replied Lamb when asked how his family and friends felt about his move to Maryland.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is one of several Soldiers who sought to support the Maryland National Guard\u2019s Public Affairs Office during the state\u2019s fight against COVID-19.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c[If I could] tell you one thing, it’s a lot colder here [in Maryland]. It’s colder and more expensive, but I wouldn’t trade it for the whole world,\u201d <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>Lamb also said. He is willing to face any challenge to\u00a0 adapt to the Maryland lifestyle, since he wants to further his career in public affairs in the Maryland Army National Guard.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
