Governor Boyd K. Rutherford and U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Janeen L. Birckhead, commander of the Maryland Army National Guard, visited one of the state\u2019s first COVID-19 mass vaccination sites at Six Flags America in Bowie, Maryland, on Feb. 6, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In partnership with the Maryland National Guard, Maryland Department of Health, and Kaiser Permanente, this site is will eventually be able to vaccinate up to 6,000 people per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2021\/02\/50923518376_f939585154_k.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5277\" src=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2021\/02\/50923518376_f939585154_k-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"214\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2021\/02\/50923518376_f939585154_k-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2021\/02\/50923518376_f939585154_k-732x1024.jpg 732w, https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2021\/02\/50923518376_f939585154_k-768x1075.jpg 768w, https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2021\/02\/50923518376_f939585154_k-1097x1536.jpg 1097w, https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2021\/02\/50923518376_f939585154_k.jpg 1463w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 214px) 100vw, 214px\" \/><\/a>\u201cThis is a logistics challenge to make sure we can get as many of our 6 million residents vaccinated and do it in an efficient way,\u201d Rutherford. \u201cYou [Maryland National Guard] are the experts in logistics along with a number of other areas, of course keeping us safe, that is why it is important to have you here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maryland National Guard Mobile Vaccination Support Teams are providing medical, administrative, and logistics support to county health departments administering the vaccine. To receive the vaccine, no insurance information is needed and no fees will be charged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are very excited to have this open now,\u201d said Rutherford. \u201cFor the next couple of days, it\u2019s \u2026working out any kinks in the system before we really gear it up.
