Ruhl Readiness Center in Towson, Md. The winners will compete in the state\u2019s Best Warrior Competition in March.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1979\" src=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2017\/07\/1012044_10151832237962093_707776805_n-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2017\/07\/1012044_10151832237962093_707776805_n-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2017\/07\/1012044_10151832237962093_707776805_n.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Several Soldiers stepped up to the plate, vying for title as the brigade\u2019s Best Warrior. These Soldiers endured a January which brought along some of the coldest days this winter that our region has experienced. Twenty-one degrees and snowfall could not stop the Soldiers of the 58th BfSB as they started on their 7-mile ruck march.<\/p>\n<p>They started the competition off at Gunpowder, testing their land navigation and map reading skills, demonstrating Combat Lifesaver techniques, making 9-line MEDEVAC requests, and disassembling and reassembling a M-240B machine gun and an M4 carbine.<\/p>\n<p>They ended the competition at Ruhl Readiness Center for the final test \u2013 the boards. The competitors appeared before senior noncommissioned officers, testing their individual knowledge. When it was over and the scores tabulated, Sgt. Michael Firth and Spc. Michael Robinson, both from C Company (LRS), 1st Squadron, 158th Cavalry Regiment, emerged as the champions.
