Why did you decide to join? Do you come from a military family?
I joined the Maryland National Guard to continue the comradery and teamwork I cherished from my Navy experience. The MD National Guard not only fulfilled my desires, but it also offered flexibility allowing me to balance my service with valuable time spent with my family.
What has been your favorite moment or part of serving? Why is it important that you serve?
My favorite moment of serving has been actively assisting my community, especially the Latinx community, during challenging times like the Covid pandemic. I found fulfillment in going out, providing face-to-face translations, being a helping hand to those in need, and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds.
What makes you proud to serve in the National Guard?
I take pride in serving in the MD Nation Guard because I have witnessed firsthand the impactful footprint of the MD National Guard. Not only does it provide crucial local disaster support, but it also extends its assistance to mobilizations overseas and contributes support to numerous exercises across the country. The diverse range of meaningful contributions reinforces my sense of pride in being part of such a multifaceted and impactful organization.
What are you looking forward to next in your career?
I anticipate graduating from OCS and advancing to an Officer role soon. My goal is to continue to make a positive impact on Soldiers’ lives, and to guiding and assist Soldiers in need.
