{"id":22745,"date":"2021-08-12T13:31:02","date_gmt":"2021-08-12T17:31:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msp\/?p=22745"},"modified":"2021-08-12T13:34:22","modified_gmt":"2021-08-12T17:34:22","slug":"20000-reward-offered-for-information-leading-to-arrest-of-suspect-in-2003-carroll-county-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msp\/2021\/08\/12\/20000-reward-offered-for-information-leading-to-arrest-of-suspect-in-2003-carroll-county-murder\/","title":{"rendered":"$20,000 Reward Offered For Information Leading To Arrest Of Suspect In 2003 Carroll County Murder"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>(WESTMINSTER, MD) \u2013 As Maryland State Police continue to investigate the 2003 murder of a Carroll County man, the family of the victim is now offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the victim\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, Richard Atkins Jr., 30, of Westminster, Maryland, was found by family members beaten to death around 12:30 p.m. on Dec.\u00a029, 2003 in his apartment on the 100 block of East Main Street. Investigators believe Atkins was targeted and robbery was motive in this case.<\/p>\n<p>According to investigators, the person(s) responsible for Atkins\u2019 death went to his apartment on or about Dec. 27 looking for money. When Adkins declined the request, he was beaten with a blunt object before those responsible stole cash and DVDs from the apartment.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with\u00a0information may contact Sgt.
