Man Arrested For Child Pornography"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(SALISBURY, MD) \u2013 Maryland State Police criminal investigators today arrested and charged a Wicomico County man with distribution and possession of child pornography.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect is identified as Richard E. Rathel, 66, of Salisbury, Md.\u00a0 He is charged with one count of distribution of child pornography and three counts of possession of child pornography.\u00a0 He was transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center for processing and an initial appearance before a court commissioner, where he was ordered to be held without bond.<\/p>\n<p>The three-month investigation by members of the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division began when investigators received a tip regarding potential child pornography files being uploaded from the Internet.\u00a0 The investigation identified an address and State Police investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence.<\/p>\n<p>This morning, State Police investigators served the search warrant at what was learned to be the suspect\u2019s home.\u00a0 During the service of the search warrant, evidence was obtained that led to the suspect\u2019s arrest and the charges placed against him today.\u00a0 Electronic equipment recovered at the home will be submitted to the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit digital forensics laboratory for further analysis.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation is continuing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/07\/Richard-Rathel-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-18897\" src=\"http:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/07\/Richard-Rathel-300x263.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"263\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/07\/Richard-Rathel-300x263.jpg 300w, https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/07\/Richard-Rathel-1024x897.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/07\/Richard-Rathel-768x672.jpg 768w, https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/07\/Richard-Rathel-1536x1345.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/07\/Richard-Rathel-2048x1793.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Richard Rathel<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(SALISBURY, MD) \u2013 Maryland State Police criminal investigators today arrested and charged a Wicomico County man with distribution and possession of child pornography.
