Maryland State Police Arrest Man on Child Pornography Charges in Anne Arundel County

(PASADENA, MD) – Maryland State Police arrested a man on Aug. 9, 2024, after a Maryland State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigation developed evidence of child pornography.
The suspect is identified as Kenneth J. Schneider, 34, of Chestnut Hill Cove, Maryland. Schneider is charged with soliciting, promote/distributing of child pornography, both felonies, and a misdemeanor displaying obscene material to a minor. He is being held without bond at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.

In June, special agents from the Homeland Security Investigations initiated an investigation into child pornography after receiving a report that a minor had attempted suicide from being sexually extorted. On Aug. 9, 2024, members of the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Homeland Security Investigations and Anne Arundel County Police served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence. Schneider was arrested at the scene.

The Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit coordinates the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. This is a combined law enforcement effort involving police departments across Maryland that is made possible in part due to grant funds provided by the Governor’s Office for Crime Prevention and Policy and by a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. Task force investigators focus on identifying those involved in child pornography via the Internet and other related crimes that victimize children.

The investigation continues.
