Maryland State Police Investigating Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash In Frederick County

(FREDERICK, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early this afternoon in Frederick County.

Shortly after 12:15 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack responded to Fingerboard Road at Baker Valley Road in Frederick, Maryland for a report of a multi-vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, a Dodge Charger was traveling west on Fingerboard Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered into the eastbound lanes and crashed into a motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, a male, was declared deceased at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Dodge remained at the scene. According to a preliminary investigation, impaired driving and speeding were not factors in the crash. However, the weather may have played a role in the driver losing control of the Dodge. Fingerboard Road was closed for about three hours after the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
