Maryland State Police News Release

Social Distancing Rules Still Apply During Flyovers Tomorrow

(PIKESVILLE, MD) — As Marylanders prepare to honor and celebrate the heroism of our healthcare workers tomorrow during the military jet flyovers, Maryland State Police are reminding all spectators the state of emergency remains in effect and all current social distancing rules and safety precautions still apply.

Beginning about 11:30 a.m. tomorrow, flyovers by the US Navy Blue Angels and US Air Force Thunderbirds will occur over hospitals in the Baltimore area.  At about 11:45 a.m., flyovers will occur over hospitals in the Washington, D.C. area and surrounding communities.

In order to view this amazing sight safely, spectators are reminded the Governor’s Executive Order and the state of emergency remain in effect across Maryland.  Those watching the flyover outside in a public area should wear face coverings and maintain social distancing by standing at least six feet apart.

In a joint news release, the US Navy and US Air Force squadrons reminded spectators to follow these safety guidelines. “Residents in these areas will be able to see the flyover from the safety of their home-quarantine and should maintain all social distancing guidelines during this event,” the release said. “They should also refrain from traveling to landmarks, hospitals and gathering in large groups to view the flyover. A detailed flight route will be released on the day prior to the flyover.”
