Maryland State Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash In Queen Anne’s County

(CHESTERTOWN, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred early this morning in Queen Anne’s County.

The pedestrian, whose identification is being withheld pending next of kin notification, was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver of a passenger vehicle involved in the crash was reported uninjured and remained at the scene.

Shortly after 6 a.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Centreville Barrack responded to the area of Maryland Route 213 at Maryland Route 544 for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian. According to a preliminary investigation, for unknown reasons, the pedestrian traveled across the roadway and was subsequently struck by a passenger vehicle.

All north and south lanes were closed for approximately 2 hours for the crash investigation. Personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with the road closure. The crash investigation is active and ongoing.
