Maryland State Police Investigating Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash In Baltimore County

(PIKESVILLE, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash in which one person died Tuesday in Baltimore County.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, troopers from the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack responded to the inner loop of Interstate 695 in the area of Greenspring Avenue for a report of a four-vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, a Volvo tractor-trailer, driven by Sarabjit Singh, 50, of Newark, Delaware, crashed into the rear of a Dodge caravan, pushing it off the road and into the jersey wall.

The tractor-trailer then crashed into the rear of a Hyundai Santa Fe and sideswiped a Toyota Avalon. The driver of the Dodge, Paula Jeanne Roberts, 62, of Baltimore, Maryland, was transported by ambulance to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she later died. The driver of the Hyundai, a female, was transported to GBMC in Towson, Maryland for treatment of their injuries. The right three lanes of I-695 East were shut down for close to three hours following the crash.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team is investigating the cause of the crash. Once the investigation is completed, the findings will be turned over to the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office, which will decide on potential charges in the case.
