Maryland State Police Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Crash In Baltimore County

(ARBUTUS, MD) – Maryland State Police are continuing to investigate a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Tuesday evening in Baltimore County.

Shortly before 9:25 p.m. on Tuesday, troopers from the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack responded to I-95 South at I-195 for a report of a pedestrian-related crash. According to a preliminary investigation, Jacob Marshall Dalton, 29, of West Palm Beach, Florida, was driving a 1997 Ford Ranger when it became disabled in the right shoulder of I-95 South.

For unknown reasons, Marshall, the lone occupant in his vehicle, stepped from the shoulder into the road and was struck by a tractor-trailer, which was unable to stop prior to the crash. Dalton was transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he was declared deceased. The driver of the tractor-trailer remained at the scene.

No one else was injured because of the crash. I-95 South was closed in the area of the crash before being reopened at about 12:05 a.m. on Wednesday. The Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division responded to the scene to conduct a post-crash inspection on the tractor-trailer.

The incident remains under investigation.
