Maryland State Police Investigating Fatal Crash In Prince George’s County
(COLLEGE PARK, MD) – Maryland State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash in which one person died and another was injured Thursday evening in Prince George’s County.
Shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday, troopers from the Maryland State Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash in the area of eastbound Route 50 east of Route 410 in College Park, Maryland. According to a preliminary investigation, a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria was traveling on the roadway when the driver, identified as Davon Robinson, 22, of New Carrollton, Maryland, and the female passenger of the vehicle became engaged in a physical altercation.
According to a preliminary investigation, during the altercation Robinson lost control of the vehicle, which overturned and crashed into a sign support pole. Robinson, who was trapped in the vehicle, was declared deceased at the scene. The passenger was able to exit the vehicle on her own and was transported to University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center for treatment of her injuries. Route 50 East was closed as a result of the crash.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team is continuing to investigate the crash.
