State Police Investigate Woman Hit By Train In Frederick County
(POINT OF ROCKS, MD) –Maryland State Police from the Frederick Barrack are investigating an incident involving a woman hit by a train this morning.
The victim is identified as Natalie Green, 36, of Waterford, Virgina. Green was flown by Trooper 2 to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center where she is receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained in the incident.
Shortly before 8:00 a.m. this morning, troopers responded to the report of a passenger being struck at the MARC train station in Point of Rocks. Upon their arrival, emergency medical personnel from the Frederick County Fire and Rescue Department were on scene providing emergency medical care to the victim.
The preliminary investigation indicates Green was crossing the pedestrian walkway to get to the platform and was struck by an oncoming freight train carrying vehicles. The conductor and engineer were on board at the time and advised police they sounded their audible signal prior to the incident, which was confirmed by witnesses on scene.
Uniform troopers and investigators from the Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack and Aviation responded to the scene. CSX Police and management were on scene to assist with the investigation. Maryland State Police Frederick Barrack is the lead in the investigation.
The train line involved in the incident is closed at this time. All other lines remain open. The investigation continues.
