Darlington Fatal Crash Investigation, State Police Seek Witnesses

(DARLINGTON, MD) – As the investigation continues into the fatal crash that occurred in Darlington on Saturday night, Maryland State Police are seeking information from witnesses.

The deceased is identified as Emily McDowell, 25, of Street, Maryland. She was the operator and sole occupant of a 2008 Mazda 3 sedan. McDowell was declared deceased on the scene by emergency medical services personnel.

The two other vehicles involved were a Chevy Tahoe, operated by Daryl Buhrman, 50, of Rising Sun and a 2007 Ford Explorer, operated by Christopher Wehage, 22, of Jarrettsville.  Buhrman was transported to Christianna Hospital and Wehage was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

Shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, troopers from the Bel Air Barrack were dispatched to a reported crash involving three vehicles at the 4700 block of Conowingo Road, north of Castleton Road.  The preliminary investigation indicates the Mazda was traveling northbound on Conowingo Road and for reasons unknown at this time, crossed the center line into oncoming traffic.

The Chevy Tahoe was traveling in the southbound lane of Conowingo Road, in front of the Ford Explorer. The Mazda crashed head-on into the Chevy, subsequently striking the Ford.

As troopers from the Bel Air Barrack investigate this crash, witnesses of the incident are urged to contact police at 410-879-2101.
