Lane Closures To Continue Following I-95 Fatal Tractor-Trailer Crash In Cecil County
(NORTH EAST, MD) – The right two lanes along a portion of southbound I-95 will remain closed at least through overnight as emergency roadwork continues following a fatal tractor-trailer crash Tuesday afternoon in Cecil County.
The driver of the tractor-trailer has been identified as Delvon Jerome Dominique Crosby, 45, of Baltimore. Crosby was pronounced deceased at the scene.
At 1:45 p.m., a trooper from the JFK Barrack was conducting a traffic stop on southbound I-95 at the 97 mile marker in North East. For unknown reasons at this time, the tractor-trailer, traveling southbound on I-95, struck the trooper’s vehicle and then the stopped vehicle before overturning on the right shoulder.
The trooper was outside of his vehicle on the shoulder and the driver of the stopped vehicle was outside of his vehicle at the time of the incident. Neither the trooper nor the driver of the stopped vehicle were injured.
All lanes on southbound I-95 at mile marker 97 were shut down for several hours due to the crash. MDTA maintenance personnel were on the scene assisting with traffic detours. The left lane was reopened at about 8:30 p.m.
The investigation continues…
