Fatal Collision on Baltimore Beltway

June 21, 2018 at 2307 hours

I/L I-695 at Perring Parkway

On 06/21/2018 at approximately 2307 hours, a call was received from the State Highway
Administration advising that they received a call in reference to a body that was
located on the right shoulder of the Inner Loop of I-695 at Perring Parkway.  
Dispatched Troopers arrived on scene minutes later and advised that a body was
located and aid was not able to be rendered due to the extent of the subjects
injuries.  Preliminary, obvious injuries included head trauma, broken legs and 
body disfigurement.  EMS and fire rescue personnel arrived on scene and pronounced 
the subject deceased at 2321 hours. Troopers on scene immediately secured the scene
and shut down lanes two, three and the right shoulder. The OCME's office and 
Crash Team personnel responded to the scene.  Baltimore County Police as well as 
Troopers from the Golden Ring Barrack located the striking vehicle and driver 
on the O/L I-695 at Harford Road. The deceased vehicle was unattended with no 
damage, located approximately quarter mile in front of where the victim was struck.
While the sequence of events is still being investigated, the striking vehicle 
had significant damage. The operator of the striking vehicle had no injuries. 
The roadway was reopened at 0300 hours.  Next of kin has not been notified, 
therefore the name of the victim is not being released at this time.
