Braveboy for review and final appointment. This concludes the search committee\u2019s role in the selection process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOur committee worked diligently to lead a transparent, community\u2011driven search grounded in the values of Prince George\u2019s County,\u201d said <\/span><b>Dr. James C. Bell, PGCPS Superintendent Search Committee Chair<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cThe finalists we have recommended reflect the leadership qualities our families, students, and staff told us matter most. We are confident this process will support the selection of a superintendent committed to strong, student\u2011centered progress for PGCPS.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The search committee, which included <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prince George\u2019s County residents Jennifer Avelar and Gordon L. Sampson,<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msde\/pgcps-search-committee\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">began<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> its work in March with a focus on transparency and trust. Working alongside search firm PoliHire, the committee provided <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msde\/pgcps-search-committee-next-steps\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">regular updates<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the timeline and process, which included a community survey that yielded more than 4,200 responses. The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.maryland.gov\/msde\/pgcps-search-committee-community-priorities\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">survey results<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> helped to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">develop the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/polihire.com\/polihire-engages-community-in-search-for-next-superintendent-of-prince-georges-schools\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">leadership profile<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which detailed key characteristics for the school system\u2019s next superintendent, and interview questions for candidates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The themes that survey respondents identified included community-centered and transparent communicator; operationally strong and results-driven leader; strategic and responsible fiscal steward; culture-builder and organizational leader; and instructionally-focused education leader.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The superintendent search is a closed process and the finalists names are confidential. The committee recommended that candidates have an opportunity for outreach with parent and student representative groups, employee organizations, and community and business leaders. The committee also encouraged more dialogue with Latino community groups due to the low survey response rate (less than 8 percent).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">County Executive Braveboy is expected to make a selection by June 1, followed by approval from the Prince George\u2019s County Board of Education and subsequent appointment by State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carey M.
