PGCPS Superintendent Search Committee Releases Leadership Profile<\/strong><\/b><\/h2>\n

BALTIMORE (April 30, 2026)<\/b> \u2014 <\/span>Today, the Prince George\u2019s County Public Schools (PGCPS) Superintendent Search Committee released the community priorities, values and expectations used to develop a profile for the district\u2019s next leader. The\u00a0Leadership Profile Report, developed in partnership with the search firm PoliHire, details five key characteristics identified by roughly 4,270 survey respondents.<\/p>\n

The leadership themes that emerged were: community-centered and transparent communicator; operationally strong and results-driven leader; strategic and responsible fiscal steward; culture-builder and organizational leader; and instructionally focused education leader.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to ensure that ultimately the next superintendent reflects the needs and expectations across the Prince George\u2019s County Public Schools community,” said\u00a0Dr. James C. Bell, PGCPS Superintendent Search Committee Chair<\/strong>. \u201cWe remain committed to a transparent process that centers every community in Prince George\u2019s County.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAcross responses, we heard a clear and consistent message: stakeholders are looking for a superintendent that can strengthen trust, improve culture, and deliver results across the district,\u201d the report noted. \u201cUltimately, the district will benefit from a leader who can align people, systems, and strategy, ensuring that vision translates into measurable results and sustained confidence in Prince George\u2019s County Public Schools.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the survey captured broad community representation, respondents from predominantly Latino communities accounted for 6 to 8 percent of total participation. The committee will recommend expanded outreach and dialogue with community groups from several underrepresented areas to Prince George\u2019s County Executive Aisha Braveboy as the search process continues.<\/p>\n

To maintain transparency in the process, the committee also clarified that while earlier communications referenced approximately 8,600 survey submissions, the final validated number of unique respondents was just over 4,270.<\/p>\n

The committee is actively screening candidates with interviews scheduled to begin next week. In accordance with the established timeline, the committee will submit three finalists to County Executive Braveboy by May 8. She is expected to make a selection by June 1, followed by approval from the Prince George\u2019s County Board of Education and subsequent appointment by State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carey M. Wright.<\/p>\n
