Braveboy, Prince George\u2019s County Board of Education, and State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carey M. Wright.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">State law requires the search committee to consist of a State Board of Education member appointed by the State Superintendent and two residents of Prince George\u2019s County appointed by the Governor. The State Superintendent selects the chair from the three search committee members. The search committee is chaired by Dr. James C. Bell Jr., and consists of members and Prince George\u2019s County residents\u00a0 Jennifer Avelar and Gordon L. Sampson.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe remain committed to a transparent, inclusive, and thoughtful process. Over the coming weeks, committee members will carefully assess each applicant\u2019s qualifications, leadership experience, and vision for advancing student achievement and supporting our educators and school communities,\u201d said <\/span><b>Dr. Bell<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe committee will keep the Prince George\u2019s County Public Schools community informed as we move forward. Our goal is to recommend highly-qualified candidates who will lead Prince George\u2019s County Public Schools into its next chapter of excellence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PoliHire, an executive search firm, is conducting a national recruitment and community engagement effort in partnership with County Executive Braveboy and the Prince George\u2019s County Board of Education. A <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/PGCPSchoolsSurvey\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">community survey<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on school system <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">perspectives and qualities needed in the next superintendent <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">closed Friday, March 27. Approximately 8,600 individuals have responded since the survey opened in February. The search firm has also engaged constituency groups in Prince George\u2019s County to solicit feedback for the development of a leadership profile.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applications for superintendent are due Wednesday, April 22. The search committee will work with PoliHire to screen applicants, conduct required background checks, and interview candidates in early May before recommending three finalists to County Executive Braveboy by Friday, May 8.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following the search committee\u2019s recommendations, County Executive Braveboy will then select a candidate for appointment to a four-year term.
